There are many Invasive pond weed out there, Some people identify plants with slightly different names, but in the end most are vary invasive and all pond or lake plants do need management of different levels, as some grow faster than others. the best way to slow growth down depending on the plant type is to get down to the root mass/Enzymes and remove remove as much as possible. many "Pond Experts" do not remove plants by root, as this keeps them in a job and repeat work.
